‘A Viagem das Horas’ is a feature-length documentary that uncovers the enigmatic story of José Mauro, a musical prodigy of Brazilian MPB who vanished at the height of his career in the 1970s, amidst the cultural flourishing and repression of the military dictatorship. Blending folk, bossa nova, and Brazilian rhythms, his albums Obnoxious and A Viagem das Horas became cult masterpieces decades later, influencing prominent artists and DJs from the US, Europe and Asia.
Amid rumours of his death and the resurrection of his music abroad, the film investigates his rediscovery, exploring his connection with spirituality, nature, and art. Through archival footage, interviews, and experimental sequences, the documentary reflects on authorship, representation, and the impact of his timeless work.
